Please join us in the Mona Bishop Room on February 23 (6pm) for an evening with Tom Reardon as he discusses his 12 year research into “The Peculiar Institution in the Ten-Mile Square: Slavery in the Nation’s Capital.”   The term Ten-Mile Square refers to the original size of Washington, DC from 1790 to 1848.  It contained one of the largest slave markets in the South.  Tom’s research into this mostly unknown aspect of American history is fascinating.
