A Vision for the Future requires a flexible roadmap...

Can you picture Sierra Vista in 20 years? Will there be plenty of parks, good streets, affordable neighborhoods, and a strong economy? Will the area’s military and western history still be reflected in the community? Will the surrounding environment be healthy and accessible to all?

To ensure the future of our beautiful city, the Sierra Vista Mayor and Council have developed a 20-year strategic plan, “Our Future Vistas.” This plan is designed to promote strategic leadership and performance and guide our community as we face the future. This plan is a living and flexible guideline designed to help the entire community focus our limited resources to ensure the future of Sierra Vista is the very best it can be. Let’s look at that roadmap:

This twenty year plan is broken out into goals. Over the next five years we plan to address these eight major goals:

Growth: Achieve quality growth for the future of Sierra Vista through the application of land use planning and other development standards.

Housing: Promote the provision of a variety of housing options for all segments of the Sierra Vista community.

Recreation, Culture & Library: Provide the community with a variety of parks, recreation, library and cultural facilities and services.

Public Safety: Enhance public safety facilities and services.

Water: Ensure that the long-term water needs of the community and the San Pedro River in the Sierra Vista Sub Watershed are met.

Financial Stability: Ensure the long-term financial viability and operational effectiveness of the City of Sierra Vista.

Strong Economy: Achieve a strong economic base that provides broad opportunities and is not dependent on the business cycle of one industry or employer.

Transportation: Provide the Sierra Vista community with a variety of safe and efficient transportation systems.

The goals are broken out into two-year objectives.

Let’s see what progress the City has made toward accomplishing each two-year objective:

Regular updates will be added as progress is made.
